European Transmitters

Benidorm (Spain). These transmitters are on a high hill overlooking the town. They are mainly for radio FM and DAB stations. They were taken in November 2024 when the weather was hot and sunny.

  • Fresh Radio 97 FM
    A popular radio station on the Costa Blanca. You can listen to Fresh Radio on 97 FM in Benidorm, 104 FM in Orihuela Costa, or via DAB+ Cartagena-Benidorm. 
     
  • Big Radio Spain
    You can listen to Big Radio Spain on 89.9 FM and 91.1 FM, or on the Big Radio Spain app for Android and iOS. 
     
DAB+ 
  • DAB+ Cartagena-Benidorm: A digital radio service that is available in Benidorm.

 

A 26 Calais to Reims Motorway

This repeater mast was photographed today at a service station on the A26 about 40km from Calais. It is part of the network of transmitters bring traffic information to motorists on the motorway network from Radio France. Like the others it broadcasts on 107.7 FM.

Reims

This is the lovely mast in Reims captured on the way down the A26 from Calais.
This transmitter carries the main digital services from TNT ( the French Freeview service)

Mulhouse

This great specimen spotted as we speed along the A36 towards Basle in Switzerland.
I presume that the full digital French TNT package is transmitted from this high power transmitter. 

                               Stuttgart

This is Justyn Robert's favourite mast. It is in
Stuttgart, Germany.Certainly very impressive.
TV and radio probably. I love the red and
white paint which is very typical of
continental masts. It's basic design
is very similar to the Emley Moor Transmitter
in Yorkshire. 

The tower is still known as Fernsehturm but
today only broadcastsseveral public FM radio stations.
Transmission of the ARD TV network'sanalogue
service stopped in 2006. The digital television
services havemoved to nearby Fernmeldeturm Stuttgart,
which also broadcastsprivate FM radio stations in the area.
