It was built in 1965, originally broadcasting Anglia Television on VHF 405-lines, UHF with 625-line services of BBC2, BBC1, and Anglia Television being added by January 1971. It carried Channel 4 and Channel 5 from
their launch days, Channel 5 at lower power than the other four services. Today it broadcasts digital
television on the DTT platform.
Sandy Heath mainly covers Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and north Hertfordshire
as well as North West Essex, bringing the nearby area Look East and Anglia Tonight. Coverage extends to
parts of Buckinghamshire, Norfolk, Leicestershire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire.
It also broadcasts the BBC local radio station BBC Three Counties Radio and the independent radio station

The Belmont transmitting station is situated one mile west of the village of Donington near
Market Rasen and Louth in Lincolnshire. It is owned and operated by Arqiva.
It has a guyed tubular steel mast, with a lattice upper section. The mast is now 1,154 feet (351.7 m) high
although it was originally higher.
It was built in 1965 and it began transmissions on 20 December of that year.
Between October 2009 and April 2010, the mast was shortened as part of the Digital Switchover works,
most of the top section above the fifth stay level was removed.
The transmitter broadcasts digital television and both analogue and digital radio to Lincolnshire,
eastern Yorkshire, northern parts of Norfolk and some parts of Nottinghamshire.
When it was first operated it transmitted (amongst others) ITV station Anglia Television. Following a re-organisation of ITV coverage in 1972, from 1974 it started transmitting neighbouring station
Yorkshire Television instead, which it continues to do to this day. Due to most of the region being flat,
Belmont has few relay stations although there is a main relay station at Oliver's Mount covering the
Scarborough area.
Belmont's digital transmitting power - 50 kW for SDN (previously Mux A), 100 kW for Arqiva A & B (Mux C, D)
and 150 kW for BBC A, D3&4 and BBC B (Mux 1, 2, B).

The Peterborough transmitting station is at Morborne Hill, near Peterborough.
There are two tall structures on the site: The steel lattice mast belongs to Arqiva, and a 98.45 metres tall reinforced concrete tower belonging to BT. These sites are known by their owners as 'Peterborough' and 'Morborne Hill' respectively. The broadcasting mast was originally built for broadcasting television on VHF Band I. On 30th of October 2004 this mast was destroyed by fire. It collapsed, seriously damaging the transmitter building at the base. Services were temporarily restored by transferring them to the adjacent BT tower and two temporary masts, including the BBC emergency mast which was put in use for the first time. A new replacement mast was then built. There are no TV transmissions from the site now.
