The Nottingham TV transmitter opened in 1973. It is vertically polarised and fed from the
Waltham main station. It is a K group transmitter .
The transmitter stands West of Nottingham and close to the town of Kimberley (which it is often called).
It covers approximately half a million people.The power of the transmitter is 400 watts.
The local channel Notts TV is broadcast from this transmitter.

The transmitter is located at Waltham-on-the-Wolds, 5 miles north-east of Melton Mowbray and is east of the A607 between Grantham and Melton Mowbray. It has a 315 metres steel tubular mast. The main structure height to the top of the steelwork is 290.8 metres with the UHF television aerialscontained within a shroud mounted on the top.
It covers Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Eastwood Relay

This low power relay transmitter fed from the Waltham Main Station serves around 1900 homes
in the centre of the town.

It is a low power relay of Stanton Moor providing editorial coverage of the East Midlands.

Parwich

This Freeview Light Transmitter is a relay of Waltham and serves the village of Parwich in Derbyshire. The original picture of the wooden pole was taken by me some years ago. Today (May 5th 2021) I went back and took this photo of the metal pole as it now is. This involved a trek up the hill but it was well worth it. The two transmit aerials are at the top and the single receiving aerial for Waltham is at the bottom.
Derby
This aerial is on the roof of the Royal Derby Hospital.

This Freeview light transmitter serves approximately 3,300 homes. The signals are received from the
Waltham main station on the bottom aerial and rebroadcasts on the top ones. The transmitter is
mainly there to provide the East Midland Services of BBC 1 and ITV 1as the predominant signal is from Sutton Coldfield.

Birchover

This low power relay serves a small area west of Matlock and fills in for the Stanton Moor station nearby
from where it receives its signal. The village is shielded from Stanton Moor by a hill. The transmitter
carries the East Midlands services of BBC 1 and Itv. The transmitter is located in the metal case at the
base of the wooden mast.

Ashbourne Radio
Imagine Radio - 97.6 fm - Derbyshire and East Staffordshire
This local commercial radio station has had a number of incarnations and now is part of a chain of stations.
At one time it was known as Ashborne FM. Other stations cover the Derbyshire High Peak and
Southern Manchester. The transmitter and the local studio is sited in this residential area of the town.

Ilkeston Radio Transmitter
Erewash Sound - 96.8 fm
This is one of two transmitters for Erewash Sound the community radio station in the Erewash Borough of Derbyshire. It began broadcasts in 2010 and is sited on the roof of once was the COOP Building in the centre of the town. A second transmitter at Risley was added
in 2020 to improve reception in the south of the borough.
Risley Radio Transmitter

This is the second Transmitter for Erewash Sound, the Community Radio Station for southern part Erewash Borough of Derbyshire. It is sited on the side of a local farm building and opened in 2020. The other (see below) transmitter is on the top of a building in the centre of Ilkeston, one of two major towns in the area situated midway between Nottingham and Derby.

Nottingham Pine View Community Transmitter
Kemet Radio - 97.5 fm - 25 watts
Kemet Radio is a community radio station covering an area of west Nottingham. The transmitter is sited on this block of flats in the Radford area of the city. The mast is a traditional single pole fed I think by a square micro wave link aerial. The studio is on Alfreton Road. Kemet FM is an urban radio station founded by Marceline Powell in 2007 and its focus is on the music and culture of the city's African and Caribbean communities.
Barwell Transmitter

This unusual site for a transmitter is in Leicestershire not far from Hinckley.
It used to be an FM transmitter for Fosse FM which has moved to Hinckley and replaces Oak FM.
